Shadowplay 8 - Resort

A bearded, angular figure sits low to the ground, one arm raised, its heavy shadow stretching out beside it like a separate creature. Dense charcoal hatching builds deep contrast between the pale figure and the dark, cave-like space around it. The dramatic lighting and sculptural forms recall Picasso's minotaur and mythological studies. The stark divide between figure and shadow gives the piece a haunting, primal tension.
